Repairing the surface - partially or over the entire width

RZA repair trains

The schäfer-technic RZA and RZA-Vario repair trains are combined machines for production of full coverage surface dressing or partial repairs.

In a single operation, the precisely determined quantity of bitumen emulsion is sprayed on, and shortly afterwards chippings are spread over the same area automatically, followed by rolling with chipping press rollers.

The self-loading facility enables chippings to be directly loaded from the truck tipper on the construction site. This means that the repair train does not have to leave the construction site. Setup and travel times are reduced and work output is hugely increased.

The machines can be operated both from the tractor driver cab and from the work platform.

The RZA repair trains enable repair tracks to be completed in 300 mm steps up to a total working width of 3,000 mm.

The RZA-Vario models achieve working widths of up to 3,800 mm. The machine can be operated either from the control station on the trailer or from the driver cab on the tractor.

Thanks to the Variomat spraying and spreading bars, the working widths for full surface dressing can be variably and continuously adapted.

Repair trains in action

SURFACE DRESSING AND SEALING

Surface dressing involves applying a hot binding agent or bitumen emulsions, and then spreading coarse aggregate. Bond coat spraying can also be carried out with a bitumen sprayer and chippings can be added in a separate operation. Alternatively, a single combined machine can carry out both of these functions. 

As well as repair trains, schäfer-technic supplies bitumen sprayers, chip spreaders, chipping spreaders and surface dressing machines for these kinds of applications.

REPAIRS TO DAMAGED AREAS

Potholes, frost heave, sinking, eruptions at the edge of the road surface, thinning of the top covering, network cracks in asphalt surfacing and pavement damage can all be repaired with the right machine. Optimum repairs permanently eliminate the damage and maintain road safety. The road surface can also be prepared for further work (e.g. surface treatment).
