Sealing for concrete and asphalt

Sealing transport facilities

Polymer bitumen welded tracks can be laid as a single layer under mastic asphalt to reliably seal transport facilities in compliance with DIN18532 and  ZTV-ING. Two layers are stipulated under stone mastic asphalt.

The welded tracks provide protection against ingress of precipitation water and chlorides from de-icing salt spreading. They are extremely elastic and flexible and provide optimum adaptation to movements of the supporting construction.

With the Seal-Master, the schäfer-technic range has the perfect equipment for this method. It efficiently and quickly seals concrete bridge decks and other concrete surfaces that are driven on (car parks, parking decks etc.).

Joint and crack sealing

Joints are elements resulting from the working and construction that are capable of absorbing and resisting certain movements of the road. Depending on the application, joints are subjected to different stresses.

Joint sealing work therefore has to be carefully planned and tendered in advance.
Specifications are based on the ZTV Fug StB 15 and DIN52460 regulations.

Crack sealing methods are maintenance measures. They are intended to prevent the ingress of external substances such as water into the road construction.

The regulations in ZTV BEA St-B supplemented by H SR are applicable for these methods.

Damage such as network cracks or individual cracks can have a wide range of causes.
Examples include subsidence or bending, but also fatigue, temperature changes and movement.

To ensure professional repairs and maintenance measures, the sealing materials must be brought up to working temperature. Joint sealing machines should be used to ensure the most gentle and even heating to around 160-180 °C.

The LS cookers from schäfer-technic are available in different models and versions with a wide range of equipment options.

Crack and joint sealing must be prepared as effectively as possible. schäfer-technic produces a wide range of equipment for this purpose, including milling machines and hot air jointing lances.

Hot compressed air system (HPS)

Fast and easy solution for cracks in asphalt:

A - Clean and open
with FL-B hot air jointing lance

B - Melt flanks for optimum bonding with FL-B
with FL-B hot air jointing lance

C - Seal with hot bitumen
with LS joint sealing machine

D - Spread with bitumen sand

Milling and sealing method

Repairing closed or pretreated cracks:

A - Milling (or recutting):
With SRF joint milling machine
ratio 1.5-2 to 1 (depth to width) as:
Only enough space for sufficient binding agent provides a reliable seal.

B - Pre-treatment of recut cracks
Coat the flanks with primer.
Rough flanks when milling provide sufficient adhesion for the sealing compound.

C - Sealing with sealing compound
with LS joint sealing machine

D - Spreading hot bitumen
with spreader on LS 400 F-K

Different machines are best suited for sealing traffic routes depending on the substrate, the method and the processes used:
